ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army and Air Force conducted 10 major strikes across multiple locations in Afghanistan on Monday, security sources said.
The operations targeted Tehreek-i-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) hideouts and military infrastructure. The strikes were described as a direct response to attacks by TTA forces on February 26.
Heavy artillery, tanks, and mortars were used to neutralize TTA build-ups in the Zinda Sector of North Waziristan. Small arms fire from TTA positions was reportedly suppressed. No casualties were reported among Pakistani forces.
According to the situation report released at 2200 hours on March 2, 2026, six additional TTA posts were destroyed. Ten precision air strikes were carried out by the Pakistan Air Force on deep targets.
Confirmed casualties for TTA and allied Khawarij fighters have reached 458 killed and over 700 injured. Pakistani forces reportedly destroyed 202 posts and captured 33. In addition, 196 tanks, armored personnel carriers, and other vehicles were neutralized. Fifty-three locations were struck by air assets.
The scale of the operations has reportedly weakened TTA morale. In multiple areas along the border, TTA fighters raised white flags, signaling a desire to de-escalate. Local elders in the Chitral sector conveyed a request for a flag meeting to recover five bodies left behind in a February 26 assault.
Strategically, Pakistani forces consolidated control over the 32-square-kilometre Ghudwana Enclave in the Zhob sector. Most nearby TTA posts have been vacated or surrendered. Heavy machinery was deployed to dig a 7-kilometre-long trench to fortify the enclave against future incursions.
