Ishaq Dar Holds Talks with EU’s High Representative on Regional Tensions

ISLAMABAD: A telephone conversation was held between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and European Union High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas, the Foreign Office said.

Regional tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan were discussed. A briefing on the situation was provided. The European Union’s constructive role was appreciated.

It was agreed that close contact would be maintained amid the evolving regional environment.

According to the Foreign Office, deep concern was expressed over recent tensions in Iran and the wider Middle East. The need for dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful resolution of disputes was emphasized.

Separately, a meeting was held in Islamabad between Ishaq Dar and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong.

The changing regional situation and broader regional and global developments were discussed. The importance of dialogue, diplomacy and continued consultation was stressed. Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region and beyond was reaffirmed.
