TEHRAN: The state media in Iran has reported the death of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating that he was killed during what officials described as a foreign attack.

In addition, Iranian outlets claimed that members of the Supreme Leader’s family were among those who lost their lives.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a strong statement following the reports, vowing that a response would be carried out swiftly. Iranian military officials were quoted as saying that those responsible “will soon see the consequences of their actions.”

The IRGC further announced that operations targeting Israeli positions and American bases in the region were being prepared.

The statement further warned that the consequences of the incident would be significant.
