There are several reports have emerged claiming that Iran’s Defense Minister, Amir Nasirzadeh, and the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Pakpour, were killed in recent Israeli airstrikes.
The claims were cited by a foreign news agency, quoting two sources familiar with Israeli military operations and one regional source. However, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding the reported deaths.
The two senior Iranian figures were among those targeted in a series of coordinated airstrikes carried out by Israel. The strikes reportedly focused on multiple locations within Iran.
In this regard, both the United States and Israel have reportedly conducted strikes against several targets inside Iran. These operations are said to have included sites linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as well as other strategic locations.
Iran has announced the launch of a counter-operation named “Operation True Promise 4.” Iranian officials stated that the operation is aimed at retaliating against what they described as aggression by US forces and the Israeli government.
The IRGC has claimed responsibility for missile and drone strikes targeting multiple U.S. military installations in the region. Among the reported targets was the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.
Iranian state media further reported that U.S. bases in Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates were also targeted, along with key military centers in Israeli-controlled territories.
Iranian military officials indicated that the strikes form part of a broader response strategy and signaled that missile and drone operations may continue.
There has been no independent verification of the extent of damage or casualties resulting from these retaliatory attacks.
The situation has heightened concerns about wider instability in the Middle East. Regional and international observers are closely monitoring developments as diplomatic channels remain under strain.
