Pakistan retaliates against Afghan aggression, destroys Taliban district HQs in Paktika

PESHAWAR: Tensions along the Durand Line escalated dramatically on Friday night as Pakistan launched a major military operation against Taliban installations in Afghanistan, security officials have confirmed. The move comes as a direct response to  unprovoked shelling on civilian settlements inside Pakistani territory.

According to senior security sources, the Pakistani offensive specifically targeted military facilities belonging to the Taliban forces in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. However, the most significant damage was reported further south in the neighboring province of Paktika.

In a series of precision strikes, security sources confirmed that Pakistani forces successfully destroyed two key Taliban district headquarters. The facilities, located in the Dand Pathan and Sokonu districts of Paktika province, were completely razed in the operation, which sources described as a “measured and forceful response” to cross-border aggression.

“Following the unprovoked shelling that targeted innocent civilians on our side of the border, the armed forces have undertaken a retaliatory operation,” a security official told reporters on condition of anonymity. “The military installations of the hostile elements in Afghanistan have been effectively neutralized.”

The development marks a significant escalation in cross-border tensions. Heavy clashes are currently underway in the region as the Pakistani military presses its advantage.
