LAHORE: The Punjab’s government has announced a major relief initiative for candidates who failed or received supplementary results in the 2024–25 annual Matriculation examinations.
The initiative introduces free technical and vocational training courses, offering what officials describe as a “second pathway” toward employability and financial independence.
The program has been launched under the supervision of the Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Department Punjab.
The decision seeks to prevent academic setbacks from turning into long-term discouragement. Instead of allowing examination results to define students’ futures, the government aims to equip them with practical skills aligned with current market demands.
In this regard, students who were declared failed or placed in the supplementary category in the 2024–25 examinations are eligible to apply through an online registration system.
In this sense, the education experts have cautiously welcomed the development, describing it as a constructive and forward-looking step.
They note that in many cases, students who struggle in conventional academic settings often excel in skill-based environments where hands-on training replaces textbook learning.
However, questions remain regarding the scale, implementation framework, and range of trades to be offered.
The announcement has generated optimism, stakeholders are closely watching how the program will unfold in the coming weeks.
For thousands of students facing uncertainty after examination results, this initiative may represent more than a policy shift it could mark the beginning of an entirely new direction.
