KP Govt Vows to Back Armed Forces in Operations Against Terrorism

PESHAWAR: A joint strategy has been decided by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and law enforcement agencies to counter rising terrorism in the province.

As per details, an important meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Apex Committee, a joint civil and military forum on provincial security,  was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, the Corps Commander Peshawar, the chief secretary, the inspector general of police, and senior civil, military, and law-enforcement officials.

At the start of the meeting, prayers were offered for civilians, security forces personnel, and law-enforcement officials martyred in recent incidents. Tribute was paid to the fallen.

The meeting reviewed the recent surge in terrorist incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A comprehensive strategy for eliminating the menace of Fitna-al-Khawarij and restoring peace and stability was discussed.

It was agreed that the success of any counterterrorism policy requires joint consultation, cooperation, and operational coordination among all political parties, public representatives, community elders, and the federal government.

A firm resolve was expressed that the provincial government will utilize all available resources. These include the military, police, CTD, and other institutions. No sacrifice will be spared.

The long-term strategy was said to focus on identifying and eliminating the root causes of terrorism. The restoration of public trust was described as essential. Collective action by the government and the public was emphasized for national security and development.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government stated that good governance and public welfare are key to uniting the nation against terrorism. In the first phase, terrorism-affected areas will be transformed into model districts of good governance.

All government resources will be used to address development gaps. Social services and economic opportunities will be expanded.

Under a structured program, special packages will be provided for security, communications, healthcare, education, employment, and basic services in affected regions.

The forum decided that sustainable stability requires full care and rehabilitation of temporarily displaced persons. Their basic needs will be ensured throughout the displacement process.

The dignified return of displaced families was declared a top priority.

“Peace is our foremost priority and no compromise will be made,” the chief minister said.
