Droshum Baloch Claimed Dead in BLA Suicide Attack Appears Alive in FC Custody

QUETTA: Security forces have claimed to have killed 184 terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) during retaliatory operations following the group’s attacks across multiple areas of Balochistan.

The banned organisation had earlier claimed that several of its fighters, including female suicide bombers, had blown themselves up in the attacks. Those claims included Hawa Baloch, also known as Droshum Baloch. That assertion now appears to be false.

A major development emerged after Droshum, previously claimed dead in a suicide attack, appeared alive in a video circulating on social media.

According to the video, she is alive and currently in the custody of Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan.

The video attributed to her went viral and sparked widespread reaction. In the footage, she identifies herself as Droshum Baloch and addresses the Baloch community, stating that the FC detained her and is treating her well.

She says another woman, Nagan Baloch, carried out the suicide attack in her place.

In the video, Droshum alleges that BLA commander Bashir Zaib blackmailed her while she was employed at the University of Balochistan. She claims inappropriate videos were secretly recorded using campus security cameras and that the group threatened to release the footage unless she assisted the BLA.

She further alleges that the group took women to camps in Afghanistan and Iran, where they were forced to consume narcotics and record videos under coercion.

Droshum also recounts the case of a friend suffering from cancer. She claims the group denied her medical treatment, told her she would die anyway, and pressured her to become a suicide bomber.

She says she was drugged a few nights before being instructed to carry out killings. According to her account, she was then taken to Gwadar, but escaped at the last moment and surrendered to security forces.

She adds that the BLA is now circulating old videos to falsely portray her as dead. She says she is alive, receiving food, and undergoing medical treatment.

In a message to Baloch youth, she warns against leaders like Bashir Zaib, accusing them of exploiting women while demanding others die for their cause.

Officials have not yet commented in detail on the allegations. Security agencies say investigations are ongoing.
