Lahore: Punjab Government Expands Revolutionary ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ Scheme to Support Joint Families
Lahore: The provincial government has decided to further expand its revolutionary “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” (My Roof, My Home) program.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has presented Punjab with a golden gift by introducing a groundbreaking package aimed at preserving the centuries-old joint family system while promoting social progress and harmony.
Under the concept of “Shared Hearth, Shared Courtyard, and Shared Roof,” the Punjab government has decided to provide special facilities to joint families.
CM Maryam Nawaz has extended the scope of the revolutionary “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program to include joint families.
Under this expanded initiative, joint families across Punjab will be provided interest-free and extremely easy installment-based loans for the expansion of their homes.
The Chief Minister has also approved the disbursement of interest-free loans specifically for home extensions.
Chief Minister Punjab has set an ambitious target of constructing 160,000 houses by June 2026.
Additionally, for citizens who do not own land, the government will provide plots along with interest-free and easy loans for house construction.
Maryam Nawaz has approved the allotment of 1,534 plots under the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” (My Land, My Home) component.
In the first phase, plots will be distributed through balloting as follows: 194 in Jhelum, 129 in Kasur, 84 in Faisalabad, and 59 in Lodhran.
The Chief Minister has directed immediate steps for the earliest possible balloting of plots under “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” and has also ordered measures to increase funding for the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” project.
A special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister was held in this regard, during which the Secretary Housing and DG PHATA gave a detailed briefing.
The briefing revealed that 1,880,081 users are registered under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” project, while 1,066,559 applications are pending. So far, 67,197 houses have been occupied across Punjab under the program, and 53,843 houses are under construction.
