GWADAR: Gwadar’s coastal area, including Kotani, was the site of a routine anti-smuggling operation on October 18, 2025, conducted by Pakistan Customs, the Coast Guard, and Frontier Corps. The operation was launched following a fire at an illegal diesel and petrol storage facility, which also involved smuggling boats. Domestic media confirmed that the operation did not involve any military participation beyond Pakistani security forces, and there was no displacement of local residents.
The Government of Pakistan affirms that the security of CPEC projects and Chinese nationals remains the sole responsibility of Pakistani security forces. There is no evidence of any joint Pakistani-Chinese military operations in Gwadar or plans for the deployment of Chinese troops on Pakistani soil.
Operations conducted by the Pakistan military and coast guard in the region are focused on countering Fitna Al Hindustan (FAH) linked terrorist groups and combating illicit smuggling to ensure public safety and regional stability. Gwadar’s CPEC development, including the new international airport and port expansions, continues under full Pakistani sovereignty and remains a purely economic initiative.
Images and videos circulating on social media claiming joint operations are recycled footage from the October 2025 anti-smuggling operation. These materials have been repurposed by FAH-linked networks to fabricate narratives aimed at undermining Pakistan’s sovereignty and economic development.
Authorities urge the public not to share unverified social media claims and to rely on credible sources such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), and established media outlets.
