Karachi: Investigative authorities have completed a report regarding the Gul Plaza tragedy.
According to investigation sources, the fire broke out in a shop selling artificial flowers inside Gul Plaza and started while children present in the shop were playing.
Sources stated that the children were likely playing with matches or a lighter. Initially, the fire ignited the items stored in the shop and later spread to the electrical wiring.
According to investigators, the blaze was not caused by a short circuit.
As the fire erupted, people inside the building rushed toward the exit routes, but panic ensued due to the building’s doors being closed.
Sources added that most of the shops in the building were open at the time, and the rooftop access was also blocked with iron grills.
The fire completely damaged the building’s CCTV system.
Investigative officials confirmed that statements from eyewitnesses and affected individuals have been recorded.
