Security Forces Kill Eight India-Linked Militants in Kalat

RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed eight militants during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kalat district, the military said on Thursday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation took place on Dec. 24 after reports of militant presence linked to Fitna al-Hindustan, which Pakistan describes as an Indian proxy group.

Security forces raided the location and engaged the militants, the statement said. An intense exchange of fire followed, killing eight fighters.

Forces also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the site. The military said the militants had taken part in several attacks in the area.

ISPR said clearance operations remain underway to ensure no other militants are present in the region.

The military said Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign would continue nationwide under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.

Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating what the military described as foreign-sponsored militancy from the country, the statement added.
