Field Marshal Meets Asia Cup–Winning U-19 Cricket Team

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, on Monday met the Asia Cup–winning Under-19 cricket team at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the military said.
The military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the Field Marshal congratulated the players, team management, and officials on their historic Asia Cup triumph over arch-rivals India.

He praised the team’s discipline, teamwork, and fighting spirit. He called the victory a source of national pride.

Munir commended the dedication and hard work of the young cricketers. He said their success reflected the talent and potential of Pakistan’s youth.

He urged the players to maintain professionalism and continue striving for excellence. He also encouraged them to represent Pakistan positively on and off the field.

The army chief said young people are central to Pakistan’s future. He said their energy and character will shape the country’s progress and global standing.

Members of the Under-19 team thanked Munir for his support. They said the recognition would motivate them to achieve more.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a reception in the honour of the Under-19 cricket team and announced a cash award of Rs10 million for each player after their Asia Cup triumph.

He met the players at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad. He praised their historic victory over arch-rivals India in the tournament final.

Sharif said the win reflected discipline, teamwork, and collective effort. He said the young cricketers had made the nation proud and shown that Pakistan’s cricket future was bright.

“The entire credit goes to the team,” the prime minister said.

Earlier today, Under-19 team returned home earlier on Monday to a heroes’ welcome at Islamabad International Airport.

Fans gathered in large numbers to greet the players. They showered them with rose petals and took selfies. State Minister for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani and senior Islamabad Police officials also received the team.

Pakistan defeated India by 191 runs in the final on Sunday in Dubai.
