QUETTA: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Parliamentary Secretary Mir Liaquat Ali Lehri inaugurated the election office of joint candidate Ali Ahmed Lango in Quetta.
Lango is the joint nominee of the PPP and the National Party for Union Council 2, Ward 3.
Addressing the gathering, Lehri described Lango as a committed ideological worker. He said Lango’s victory would represent a win for genuine public representation.
Lehri said the PPP’s alliance with the National Party has remained positive. He expressed confidence that the two parties would secure a joint victory in the local government elections, as they did in the general polls.
Speaking on the occasion, Lango thanked the PPP and the Khorasani community for their support. He pledged to serve the public with dedication.
Chairman of the Khorasani National Alliance, Malik Naveed Khorasani, also endorsed the joint candidate. He said the alliance was in the best interest of the area.
Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan’s Election Commission (ECP) has released key details of the upcoming local government elections in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province.
According to ECP officials, 103 candidates have been elected unopposed across 641 wards in Quetta.
The commission said no nomination papers were filed in 18 wards, leaving those seats vacant for now.
ECP officials confirmed that polling will take place on December 28 in 520 of the 641 wards.
The Election Commission said Quetta has a total of 823,707 registered voters for the local government elections.
The announcement provides clarity on the scope of the polls as authorities finalize preparations for voting in the remaining contested wards.
