Funeral of the martyred AC and policemen offered

Bannu: Terrorists launched a deadly attack on the vehicle of Assistant Commissioner of North Waziristan, Shah Wali, on the Bannu, Miranshah Road on Tuesday morning.

The attack occurred at around 10 a.m. while the Assistant Commissioner was traveling from Miranshah to the Peshawar High Court Bench in Bannu along with his security team.

The terrorists, who were lying in ambush, opened indiscriminate fire on the official vehicle.

As a result of the attack, Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali, Constable Syed Rehman, Constable Khair-ur-Rehman, and a passerby were martyred on the spot, while two other police constables sustained serious injuries.

The funeral prayers of the martyrs were offered with full state honors at Bannu Cantonment. Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed attended the funeral, along with senior civil and military officials.

Floral wreaths were laid on the coffins, and a guard of honor was presented to the martyrs.

Paying tribute to the fallen officers, the Chief Secretary and IG Police stated that the martyrs sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for the country and the nation.

They affirmed that such cowardly attacks would never weaken their resolve and that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain.

They further vowed that terrorists would soon be brought to justice and that joint efforts to eliminate terrorism in the Bannu region would be intensified with the support of the public.
