Railway Track from Nok Kundi to Sibi to Be Upgraded

QUETTA:  The Pakistan Railways Department has approved a major plan to upgrade the railway track from Nok Kundi to Sibi in support of the Reko Diq project.

Considering the strategic importance of the project, a 600-kilometer railway line across Balochistan will be modernized to improve transportation and logistics.

Divisional Superintendent Railways, Imran Hayat Khan, stated that the new railway line materials will be imported from foreign countries.

He further revealed that the upgradation work is expected to begin in February next year with an estimated cost of 360 million dollars.

According to him, the project will be completed within a period of three years.

The Reko Diq project is one of the most important economic and industrial development initiatives in Balochistan and holds great significance for the future of Pakistan.

This massive copper and gold mining project is not only focused on mineral extraction but also on developing long-term infrastructure in some of the most remote areas of the country.

To support the project, the government is working on upgrading road networks, railway tracks, electricity supply systems, and water resources to ensure smooth operations and sustainable growth.

One of the major development plans includes the improvement of railway connectivity to transport minerals efficiently to ports and industrial zones.

The construction and upgradation of highways will improve access between Chagai district and other cities, benefiting both the mining industry and local communities.

New power plants and transmission lines are also being planned to meet the high energy demand of mining operations.

The project is being developed in partnership with international companies, including Barrick Gold, which is providing technical expertise and investment.

Thousands of job opportunities are expected to be created for local people, helping to reduce unemployment and poverty in the region.

In addition, schools, hospitals, and clean water facilities are also part of the broader development plan.

Overall, the Reko Diq development projects are expected to strengthen Pakistan’s economy, increase exports, and bring long-term social and economic benefits to Balochistan.
