Anti-State Accounts Target Retired CJCSC With ‘Pure Propaganda’

ISLAMABAD: Several prominent anti-state political social media accounts have launched a misleading and fabricated narrative following the honourable retirement of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, officials said.

Authorities said these groups are once again trying to create unrest, division and chaos in the country under a coordinated political agenda.

Officials said recent claims linked to the events of May 9 are entirely false, baseless and inconsistent with established facts. They added that these anti-state actors have no understanding of the military’s internal command structure and are deliberately misleading the public.

According to officials, the Pakistan Army responded to the May 9, 2023 attacks on state installations strictly in line with the clear directives of the Army Chief (COAS), issued through the official chain of command.

They stressed that the office of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee has no operational role in the Army or any other service. The same applied during the May 9 events, in which the CJCSC had no part in any institutional or operational instructions.

Officials said any accusation or insinuation about the CJCSC’s role is fabricated, misleading and detached from facts. They added that such conspiracy-driven narratives aim only to tarnish state institutions and undermine national unity.
