$50 million energy project MoU signed in Balochistan

QUETTA: A major step toward industrial development in Balochistan has been taken as the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OCH Group for a large-scale investment project.

Under the agreement, a German company, in partnership with OCH Group, will establish an energy and oil refinery infrastructure in Hub at a cost of 50 million US dollars.

The project is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the province’s industrial base.

The MoU was signed during a meeting between Mir Sarfraz Bugti and a delegation of OCH Group in Quetta, where investment opportunities and the current business environment in the province were discussed in detail.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said Balochistan offers vast potential for investors and assured that the provincial government is fully committed to providing a secure, transparent, and business-friendly environment.

He also urged local and foreign companies to give preference to the local skilled workforce so that employment opportunities can directly benefit the youth of the province, adding that a strong industrial sector is the backbone of sustainable economic growth in Balochistan.

The current government of Balochistan has launched multiple development initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, public services, and economic growth across the province.

Major focus areas include road networks, energy projects, healthcare facilities, clean drinking water schemes, and upgrades in education.

Several urban and rural development projects are underway to bridge long-standing gaps in connectivity and basic services, especially in remote districts.

In addition to infrastructure, the government is promoting industrialization and investment through public-private partnerships, special economic zones, and support for local businesses.

Emphasis is also being placed on youth employment, skills development, and social welfare programs.

These efforts are intended to strengthen the provincial economy, reduce unemployment, and improve the overall quality of life for the people of Balochistan.
