Pakistan condemns Afghan-soil terror attack on Chinese nationals near Tajik border

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Chinese nationals near the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border and expressed heartfelt condolences to the governments and people of China and Tajikistan.

In a statement, the Foreign Office called the attack a cowardly act. It said the use of weaponised drones exposed the gravity of the threat emanating from Afghanistan and the audacity of the attackers.

The spokesperson said Pakistan, which has repeatedly suffered terrorism from Afghan soil, fully understands the pain of its Chinese friends and Tajik partners and stands with them in their grief.

The statement said Pakistan maintains that Afghan territory must not be used for terrorism against neighbouring states or any other country. It noted that repeated attacks launched from Afghan soil and the presence of terrorist elements under the patronage of the Afghan Taliban remain a serious concern for the region and the international community.

Pakistan stressed that only firm and verifiable action against the facilitators, financiers and planners of terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan can address this growing threat.
