Farah Azeem Shah Credits Field Marshal Asim Munir For Pulling Pakistan Out of “Global Isolation”

QUETTA: During a session of the Balochistan Assembly, Member of Assembly Farah Azeem Shah made significant remarks, praising national institutions and their role in foreign policy.

Speaking on a point of order, Shah stated that the 27th Constitutional Amendment would serve as a crucial communication bridge between state institutions. She also commended the actions of Field Marshal Asim Munir, asserting that his efforts have successfully pulled the country out of “global isolation.”

The session also addressed pressing provincial issues. JUI-F member Asghar Tareen highlighted the severe shortage of Sui gas in Balochistan, describing it as a “serious life-and-death matter.” He urged the Chief Minister to immediately take up the issue with the federal government. Tareen also demanded that Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, an opposition figure, be given the chance to speak in the assembly.

Following these discussions, Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai announced a ruling. He scheduled an in-camera briefing on the law and order situation for the assembly members on Thursday. Subsequently, the session was adjourned until 3 pm on the same day due to a lack of quorum.

In separate development the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has warned of an extreme water crisis in Balochistan province. The ADB report said that the worsening water shortage reduced the cultivated land to only 7 percent of the province’s total land.

According to ADB, a new digital water and weather monitoring system has been installed in the province to help address the crisis. The system aims to provide accurate data. Automatic weather stations are now recording precise information on rainfall, temperature and wind speed.

The report said farmers can now use this climate data to plan irrigation more effectively. The digital system is helping reduce water wastage and increase crop output. It has also improved the province’s ability to forecast floods and droughts in time, reducing potential losses.
