Reopening of Mand brings joy for the traders and workers

QUETTA: The reopening of the Soorap-Mand trade point on the Pakistan–Iran border has opened a new chapter of economic activity in the region.

After remaining closed for a long period, the reopening of this important trade route has brought immense relief not only to local traders but also to the general public.

The people of Mand and the entire Makran division are expressing deep satisfaction and joy over this development.

Different sections of society have termed this decision a milestone, stating that the closure of the trade point had severely affected local businesses and increased unemployment.

With the reopening of the Soorap point, hopes for revived trade, new employment opportunities, and overall economic stability have begun to rise once again.

According to local residents, this achievement became possible due to the continuous efforts of Deputy Commissioner Kech Basheer Ahmed Bareech, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries Haji Barkat Rind, IG FC General Bilal Sarfaraz, and several other key figures who prioritized the welfare of the public and worked tirelessly for the restoration of cross-border trade.

Citizens believe that the reactivation of the trade point will not only boost bilateral trade but also improve the availability of essential commodities, including food supplies, fuel, construction materials, and other daily-use items in local markets.

The reopening is also expected to encourage small businesses, strengthen the transport sector, and create new job opportunities for youth.

Residents expressed hope that DC Kech Basheer Ahmed Bareech and Parliamentary Secretary Haji Barkat Rind will continue working with the same dedication for the development and prosperity of the region.

They also appreciated all institutions and individuals involved in making this initiative successful, adding that the restoration of the Soorap trade point will give new life to the economy of Makran.

Local groups further stated that if the government and administration continue to resolve other border-related issues with the same commitment, the Makran region could soon witness a new era of economic growth.
