Forces act as wall to block Khawarij attack on Cadets: Wana students

WANA: Cadets and teachers at the Wana Cadet College said on Wednesday that security forces acted as a wall to protect them from the attack of the militants of the Afghan Fitna al Khawarij.

Students described the Afghan Khawarij attack on Wanda Cadet College as an attempt to target their education. “The militants aimed to disrupt our learning,” one cadet said.

The suicide attack occurred during a drill. Cadets credited the Pakistan Army and college staff for preventing the attackers from reaching them. “We were not afraid. With the Army’s help, we succeeded,” a student said.

Cadets recalled seeing two attackers being fired upon by Army personnel. “The militants tried to advance toward our building, but the Army blocked their path,” another said.

“The Army told us not to worry—they had arrived to protect us,” a cadet added. Security forces prevented the attackers from opening fire on students.

The cadets said the militants expected to succeed, unaware of the Army’s presence. During the attack, students chanted patriotic slogans and prepared to defend themselves, even picking up stones to resist the attackers.

Despite the assault, both cadets and teachers remained resolute. “The militants’ efforts failed, as always,” one student said.

The incident highlighted the bravery of both students and Pakistan Army personnel, who together prevented a potential tragedy.
