QUETA: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced it will hold a major public rally at Quetta’s Hockey Ground on November 7, defying what it describes as government attempts to obstruct the event.
In a strong statement, former PTI Balochistan Additional General Secretary Alam Khan Kakar asserted that the party has fulfilled all legal requirements, including securing formal approval from the Balochistan High Court after the district administration delayed issuing a No-Objection Certificate (NOC).
Kakar accused the government of acting in “deep panic” and attempting to hide its incompetence behind law and order concerns. “The refusal to issue NOC and unnecessary delay are actually the result of fear of public power and the popularity of Imran Khan,” he stated.
The PTI leader emphasized that the rally will proceed under any circumstances and will serve as a symbol of national awareness. He also positioned the event as a protest against the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, which the party vows to oppose alongside other opposition groups, claiming it would “shake the foundations of the country.”
Kakar reiterated the party’s core demands, including the unconditional release of Imran Khan, the restoration of justice, and the supremacy of the constitution, declaring, “This is not the time for compromise, but for struggle.”
Meanwhile on Wednesday former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Secretary Information Ahmad Jawad was arrested in the federal capital Islamabad.
He was taken into custody by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
Ahmad Jawad previously served as PTI’s Central Secretary Information before his party membership was revoked over allegations against the leadership.
Later, he joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and was appointed as focal person to then Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Digital Media and Technologies during the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government.
He resigned from the position in October 2022, citing “constraints of the prime minister” as the reason for stepping down. In his resignation, he stated that he joined the PML-N when it was in opposition and weak and was leaving it when it was in power.
