Governor Mandokhel, Iranian Envoy discuss expansion of trade and connectivity

QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Jafar Khan Mandokhel said trade between Pakistan and Iran currently relies on traditional methods and remains limited in scale. However, both countries aim to expand and modernize their commercial relations to meet contemporary needs.

He stressed the importance of increasing annual bilateral trade from $3 billion to $10 billion.

Governor Mandokhel announced that the Zahedan–Quetta flight will begin operations on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He, along with the Iranian Consul General, will personally welcome passengers of the inaugural flight at Quetta Airport.

The Governor made these remarks during a meeting with Iranian Consul General Mohammad Karimi at the Governor House in Quetta. The two officials discussed the latest political developments, border trade, people-to-people ties, and strengthening the Persian Department at the University of Balochistan, among other matters of mutual interest.

The newly launched weekly Iran Air flight aims to enhance travel convenience for passengers. Initially, the service will operate between Quetta and Zahedan, with the potential to increase frequency based on passenger demand.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular bilateral communication. The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields and gifts.
