Two men brutally killed in Quetta; Police launch investigation

QUETTA: The tragic incident occurred in Quetta’s Sariab Link Shahwani Road, where unidentified armed men brutally murdered a security guard and his friend after tying their hands and feet.

The victims were identified as 22-year-old Ziaur Rehman and his friend Shahid Gul. The police stated that both victims were found slaughtered, suggesting that the attack was carried out with extreme brutality.

In this regard, law enforcement officials immediately moved the bodies to the Civil Hospital Quetta for medico-legal formalities.

In addition, the government confirmed that Ziaur Rehman hailed from Loralai, while his friend Shahid Gul was a resident of Lakki Marwat. In this sense, police teams reached the crime scene soon after the incident was reported and began collecting forensic evidence.

The area was cordoned off to facilitate the investigation, while the attackers managed to flee the scene before police arrived. Moreover, the officials said initial findings suggest that the motive behind the killings remains unclear, and no group has so far claimed responsibility.

“We are investigating the incident from all possible angles,” a police spokesperson said, adding that efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the culprits.

In a recent and dramatic turn of events, three alleged robbers were shot dead during an exchange of fire with police in Quetta’s Kili Khali area, security officials confirmed late Sunday.

Additionally, the double murder has sparked fear and concern among local residents, who have urged authorities to strengthen security in the area and ensure justice for the victims. Police have registered a case and formed a special investigation team to pursue leads. Incidents of targeted violence and armed attacks have occurred intermittently in parts of Quetta, raising concerns about public safety in the provincial capital.

The bodies of the victims were handed over to their families after post-mortem examinations.

Police officials assured that further details would be shared as the investigation progresses.
