QUETTA: For the first time in Balochistan’s history, school-based health care centres have been launched to promote modern, practical, and service-oriented education for students across the province.
The initiative aims to integrate basic health training into the education system and enhance students’ awareness of community health and human welfare.
In the first phase, the programme has been launched in five districts — Zhob, Killa Saifullah, Pishin, Kachhi, and Gwadar. Around 600 male and female students are currently enrolled in a nine-month health care training course under this initiative.
The Balochistan University of Medical and Health Sciences is providing technical assistance for the programme. Vice Chancellor Dr. Shabbir Lehri and his qualified academic team have designed the curriculum through dedicated effort and professional commitment.
Experienced nurses, medical officers, and health-trained instructors have been appointed to conduct the courses. The training centres are equipped with modern instruments, medical models, training kits, and digital learning materials to ensure quality education and hands-on experience.
Officials said the project represents a pioneering step in education reform, combining learning with practical health care training and opening new opportunities for students across Balochistan.
