GWADAR: A high-level district meeting has set an ambitious goal to make Gwadar a national model by transitioning its schools to solar energy and improving educational facilities.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hamoodur Rehman, the District Education department meeting brought together education officers, representatives from KESCO, UNICEF, and other relevant departments. The officials reviewed progress on making inactive schools functional and shifted focus to enhancing the quality of education.
Deputy Commissioner Rehman announced that Gwadar should aim to become the first district in Pakistan with the highest number of schools operating on solar power. To achieve this, committees will be formed at the union council level to oversee the initiative. He confirmed that the solarisation of the Girls Degree College in Gwadar would be completed imminently.
The meeting also prioritised the construction of washrooms in girls’ schools to create a better learning environment. Other key discussions centred on tackling teacher absenteeism, improving attendance monitoring systems, and reviewing the progress of health screening and vocational training programmes run by UNICEF.
The participants acknowledged the district administration’s efforts in reactivating schools and providing basic facilities, agreeing that the next crucial step is a collective push to raise educational standards.
Authorities halt college land grab in Gwadar , the Deputy Commissioner issued clear on-the-spot orders for the immediate removal of all illegal structures and occupants from the college’s land. He stated that all occupied land must be vacated without delay.
