LASBELA: In a significant move to advance the livestock sector, senior Balochistan government officials visited Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences and signed a formal cooperation agreement.
The delegation was led by Provincial Minister for Livestock, Sardarzada Faisal Khan Jamali, and included the Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Nawabzada Mir Zarin Khan Magsi, and the Secretary of the Livestock Department, Muhammad Tayyab Lehri. They were received by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen.
During the visit, the Vice Chancellor briefed the officials on the university’s academic programmes, facilities, and student activities. He highlighted that the institution offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and has established international partnerships.
The key outcome of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the university and the Livestock Department. This agreement paves the way for joint research, training programmes for veterinarians, and sharing resources like research farms and laboratories.
Minister Jamali emphasised the importance of the livestock department and urged university staff to focus on research, particularly in organic products. He assured that his department would work closely with the university.
Secretary Lehri pointed to the existing Tiaro farm in Lasbela as a vital resource for student research and promised to provide the university with all necessary facilities to expand their collaborative work.
Following the meeting, the delegation toured the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences to inspect its classrooms and laboratories.
Remember that last month federal minister Ahsan Iqbal after his trip to China announced that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will focuses on energy and livestock’s.
