New app and easy loans for farmers in Balochistan’s digital push

Solarization in Balochistan will boost agricultural output: PM

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has launched a major digital initiative designed to modernise its agricultural sector and provide better support for farmers.

The new programme, introduced during a workshop organised by the Board of Revenue, aims to streamline key services for the farming community. A central part of the plan is a new mobile application that will allow farmers to pay their income tax quickly and easily.

In a partnership with Habib Bank Limited, the government has also established new mechanisms to help farmers access loans. A simplified system will be put in place to cut through bureaucratic red tape, making the application and approval process for credit much faster.

Officials described the changes as a critical step towards unlocking the full potential of Balochistan’s agriculture, a sector often called Pakistan’s “fruit basket.” They stated that the digital transformation is expected to both improve farmers’ livelihoods and significantly increase provincial revenue.

“It was unanimously agreed that these initiatives mark a transformative moment for agriculture in Balochistan,” officials said, predicting long-term prosperity for farmers and the wider public.

At the event’s conclusion, Revenue Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gello and Senior Member Qamar Dashti presented certificates to newly appointed staff, recognising their role in the reform agenda.
