QUETTA: The Balochistan High court has asked for a detailed report on the appointments and the transfers of the teachers of the education department of Balochistan.
A two-member bench comprising Acting Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan Mulakhail, and Justice Gul Hassan Tareen, heard the case.
The case pertains to the constitutional petition filed by Khair Muhammad Shaheen versus the Director of Education and others.
During the hearing, the assistant government counsel informed the court that para-wise comments had already been submitted.
According to the government, 224 teachers from other districts are currently posted in Quetta.
However, the petitioner claimed that more than 4,000 teachers from other districts have been appointed in Quetta, which, he argued, is a clear violation of the Education Policy 2025.
The court observed that a final order cannot be passed without clarifying the facts.
The petitioner was directed to submit a clear and detailed written statement.
The court ordered the Director of Education to provide the accurate number of teachers posted in Quetta district and to submit a comprehensive report.
The report must include details of the total number of schools, specifying active and inactive institutions.
The court further directed that the report must also include the total number of teachers, vacant posts, and the reasons behind the vacancies.
It should be submitted with an affidavit from the Director of Schools and signed by the District Education Officers (DEOs).
The next hearing of the case has been scheduled for November 24, 2025.
Balochistan has thousands of government schools spread across its vast and diverse region, serving both urban and remote rural populations.
According to official estimates, the province has over 15,000 government schools, with nearly 60,000 teachers employed.
However, many institutions face challenges such as teacher shortages, inadequate facilities, and inactive schools due to limited resources and difficult terrain.
The provincial government is focusing on improving recruitment, training, and monitoring systems to enhance educational quality.
Efforts are also being made to ensure fair teacher distribution, promote girls’ education, and strengthen infrastructure, aiming to make education more accessible and effective throughout Balochistan.
