Solarization projects launched in Sibi under BSDI

Balochistan govt brings solar power to off-grid areas of Sibi

SIBI: In a move aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision for sustainable progress, the Balochistan government has inaugurated a series of solar energy projects across the Sibi district under the Balochistan Special Development Initiative (BSDI).

The schemes were formally launched at a ceremony presided over by Deputy Commissioner Sibi, Major (R) Ilyas Kabzai. The event was attended by a gathering of senior military officials, civil engineers, and departmental heads, alongside members of the local community.

The newly completed projects focus on providing reliable solar power to key public facilities. Several educational institutions have been solarised, including the Sibi Circuit House, Government Girls High School Dehpal Kalan, and Government Boys Higher Secondary School Loni. In a related event at the Government Girls Middle School in Chamra Karkhana, students were presented with new uniforms.

The initiative also extends to the healthcare sector, with the Rural Health Centres in Loni and Lahri, as well as the Basic Health Unit in Khairwah, now powered by solar energy through a collaborative effort between the Communications & Works Department and the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kabzai stressed the provincial government’s commitment to executing projects with transparency and adhering to strict quality standards. He emphasised that the objective is to ensure equitable access to facilities for both urban and rural populations, noting that effective inter-departmental coordination is accelerating the pace of development and public service delivery.

Attendees of the ceremony widely praised the BSDI, describing the solarisation drive as a significant milestone for enhancing education, healthcare, and clean energy access in the region.
