QUETTA: A Seminar was held in Quetta over the awareness of child protection in 20 schools in Quetta today by the Association for Integrated Development Balochistan (Aid Balochistan) .
The seminar aimed to make the children aware of the ‘good touch and bad touch’, as well as also to guide them to seek for help while coming across such situation and reacting in a certain way.
Mir Behram Lehdi, the Senior Manager Advocacy and Protection of Aid Balochistan monitored and guided the sessions of the seminar.
The program was started with an impressive theater performance, in which the issues regarding the Child Protection were addressed in a creative way.
The theatre was launched by Abdullah Al Noor, the head of Show wondering Arts Production and his team.
After the theatre performance, Mir Bahram Lehri addressed the children, advising them that if any person or elder behaves inappropriately or makes them uncomfortable, they should never remain silent.
Instead, they must report it immediately, as silence only strengthens the wrongdoer.
He urged the children to first confide in their parents, emphasizing that parents are their primary protectors.
He also mentioned that the Government of Balochistan’s Department of Social Welfare is actively working to ensure child safety, and any child facing abuse or exploitation can seek help by calling the department’s toll-free helpline at 1121.
Mir Bahram Lehri further stated that in today’s world, educating children about personal safety is essential.
Parents should openly discuss this important issue with their children so they can protect themselves from all forms of exploitation.
He added that the government should include topics like child protection and the concept of “good touch, bad touch” in the school curriculum so that children learn self-protection from an early age.
AID Balochistan’s Executive Director, Adil Jahangir, said that the organization will continue its efforts to promote child rights and awareness through similar initiatives, ensuring that the children of Balochistan grow up in a safe and confident environment.
The management of AID Balochistan expressed gratitude to the principals and teachers of all 20 participating schools for their cooperation in making these sessions successful and effective.
They reaffirmed their commitment to collectively empower, educate, and protect the future builders of the nation.
