Qatar Announces Ceasefire Pact Between Pakistan and Afghan Leadership

DOHA: Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has announced that Pakistan and Afghanistan have reached a ceasefire agreement. The deal was brokered during talks held in the Qatari capital, Doha.

According to an official statement, the negotiations were mediated by both Qatar and Turkey. The two neighbouring countries have also agreed to hold further meetings in the coming days. The goal is to establish a permanent mechanism to ensure long-term peace and stability.

The Qatari government stated that this ceasefire is expected to lay a strong foundation for lasting peace in the region and is hoped to end recent border tensions.

The high-level talks were hosted by Qatari Intelligence Chief Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khalifa. The Pakistani delegation was led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who was accompanied by senior security officials. The Afghan delegation was led by their Defence Minister, Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob.
