Security measures strengthened in Balochistan prisons

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to tighten security across prisons in the province by introducing advanced weapons, modern communication systems, and recruiting additional personnel to increase operational capacity.

The provincial government has allocated over Rs50 million for the purchase of modern arms and communication equipment.

These resources will be distributed to the province’s more sensitive jails to strengthen their security infrastructure and improve response capabilities in case of any untoward incident.

Furthermore, a senior government official from the Prison Department said that along with the technological and equipment upgrades, the department has also initiated the recruitment process for 140 prison wardens and other support staff.

In this sense, once the recruitment process is completed, the newly appointed wardens will undergo professional training to prepare them for the demands of prison management and crisis response.

The training will cover modern security practices, communication handling, and emergency procedures.

In such a scenario, the official added that these measures are part of a broader strategy by the provincial government to reinforce law and order across Balochistan, particularly in institutions considered sensitive from a security standpoint.
