South Africa trail by 162 runs on Day-2 of Lahore Test

Lahore: The second day of the first Test between Pakistan and South Africa concluded at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

In reply to Pakistan’s first-innings total of 378 runs, South Africa reached 216 for the loss of six wickets by the end of play.

South African captain Aiden Markram scored 20 runs before being caught behind by Mohammad Rizwan off Nauman Ali’s bowling with the team total at 45.

Shortly after, Wiaan Mulder was dismissed for 17, also caught by Rizwan off Nauman Ali, when the score reached 80. Ruan Rickelton made 71 runs, while Stubbs (8), Brevis (0), and Verreynne (2) were also dismissed cheaply.

Nauman Ali claimed four wickets for 85 runs, while Salman Ali Agha and Sajid Khan picked up one wicket each.

Tony de Zorzi (81*) and Muthusamy (6*) remained unbeaten as South Africa trailed Pakistan by 162 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan resumed their incomplete first innings at 313 for five, with Mohammad Rizwan (62) and Salman Ali Agha (52) at the crease.

Rizwan was dismissed for 75 with the total at 362, followed by the quick departures of Nauman Ali and Sajid Khan, both without scoring, in the same over by Senuran Muthusamy.

Salman Ali Agha fell short of a century, getting out for 93, while Shaheen Shah Afridi added 7 runs. Pakistan’s innings eventually ended at 378.

For South Africa, Senuran Muthusamy was the standout bowler, taking six wickets. Prenelan Subrayen claimed two, while Kagiso Rabada and Simon Harmer picked up one wicket each.
