ISLAMABAD: The social media platform X has suspended the account of Ehsanullah Ehsan, following his participation in an online X Space hosted by Adil Raja, a self-exiled political commentator.
The suspension notice appeared shortly after the discussion, showing the message: “Your account (@LTAli05) is currently suspended.
The suspension came after Ehsanullah Ehsan, who is a controversial figure due to his involvement in terrorism-related cases, participated in a live discussion where he openly expressed support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.
During the session, he described Khan as “a political reality” and “the most popular leader in Pakistan,” adding that the former Prime Minister was being subjected to injustice.
Furthermore, Ehsan also praised Khan’s stance on Afghanistan, stating that his views indicated “an understanding of ground realities,” criticizing Pakistan’s establishment for its approach toward the neighboring country.
In this regard, Adil Raja shared a post on X confirming the suspension, stating in Urdu that “after the interview, Ehsanullah Ehsan’s account has been suspended.”
Moreover, there are certain analysts have suggested that the platform’s decision might be linked to its community guidelines, which prohibit the use of X for promoting violence, terrorism, or hate speech.
However, no official statement from X has been issued regarding the specific reason behind the suspension.
Meanwhile, media circles have raised questions about the nature of the discussion and its potential impact on Pakistan’s political and security environment.
Some commentators argue that such platforms are being exploited to spread divisive narratives and misinformation.
