QUETTA: The Balochistan Inter-Universities Sports Festival 2025, organized by the Sports Department of Balochistan, featured a thrilling football semi-final where Gwadar University defeated Makran University Panjgur after a tense penalty shootout.
Both teams displayed exceptional defense and determination throughout regular time, keeping the match goalless. During the penalty shootout, Gwadar University’s players stayed composed and converted their chances with precision, earning a well-deserved place in the grand final.
With this victory, Gwadar University advanced to the final, where it will face BUITEMS University Quetta in an exciting clash between two of the tournament’s top-performing teams.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir congratulated the Gwadar University football team on their remarkable performance. He praised the players’ discipline, teamwork, and commitment, noting that their success highlights the university’s growing emphasis on sports and student development.
The Inter-Universities Sports Festival promotes sportsmanship, unity, and healthy competition among students across the province, offering them a platform to showcase their talent and strengthen inter-institutional harmony.

Students and sports enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the final as Gwadar University prepares to take on BUITEMS for the coveted championship title.
Earlier this month, the All Balochistan Girls School Athletic Events finished successfully in a grand closing ceremony. The competition saw great enthusiasm from over a hundred female athletes.
These athletes represented 12 different schools from across the province. They participated in a variety of sports events.
At the end, medals were awarded to the successful participants. Their principals and teachers were present to cheer them on.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of sports. They said athletics are crucial for the physical and mental development of girls, helping to build confidence and leadership skills.
