Pishin intensifies crackdown, demolishes houses of illegal Afghan residents

Only 8 days left for Afghan refugees to leave Pakistan voluntarily

PISHIN: The district administration in Pishin is intensifying operations to ensure the evacuation of illegal Afghan residents, which now include the demolition of houses and closure of shops alongside ongoing search operations .

Deputy Commissioner Mansoor Ahmed Qazi confirmed that these actions are being carried out on the instructions of the provincial government . He warned that not only the illegal residents but also their facilitators would face strict legal action .

The administration reported that over the past three months, thousands of illegally residing Afghan citizens have already been deported from the district due to incomplete documentation, with dozens more currently held in a holding center . DC Qazi stated that these evacuation operations will continue to be accelerated with the goal of improving the country’s security and economic situation . He also appealed for cooperation from local community elders and political leaders to ensure the success of this large-scale operation .

This drive in Pishin is part of a wider national repatriation plan Pakistan initiated in late 2023 . UN data shows that from October 2023 to the end of May 2025, over 1.055 million Afghan citizens returned from Pakistan to Afghanistan .
