QUETTA: The Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) has launched a comprehensive crackdown on illegal and unauthorised constructions in the city under the vision of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti and on the special directives of Quetta Administrator Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani. The campaign aims to ensure full enforcement of the Building Rules 2022.
Led by QMC Chief of Anti-Encroachment Cell, Dilawar Khan, inspection teams carried out detailed surveys in various parts of the city, exposing multiple violations and taking immediate action on-site.
According to a QMC spokesperson, the following violations were identified:
- Ali Bhai Road (near Civic Center Plaza): Double basement, no approved building plan
- Khudadad Road (opposite Dubai Marriage Hall): No approved plan
- Kowari Road Plaza: Double basement, no approved plan
- Masjid Road (near APWA School Plaza): Double basement, no approved plan
- Kareemuddin Street (Girdat Singh Road): No approved plan
- Multiple shops on Masjid Road: No approved plan
The QMC sealed all illegal construction activities on the spot and issued notices to those responsible, initiating legal proceedings.
Administrator Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani said that illegal constructions not only damage the city’s aesthetic beauty but also pose serious risks to public safety. He stressed that Quetta lies in a highly sensitive seismic zone where double-basement structures are strictly prohibited under the Building Rules 2022.
