Dera Murad Jamali – A sabotage attempt in Naseerabad was foiled on Wednesday when police and law enforcement agencies successfully neutralised explosives planted on high-voltage transmission towers.
According to police officials, unidentified militants had planted explosive devices near the 220 kV high transmission line that carries electricity from Uch Power Plant to Guddu Grid Station along Chhattar Road.
Two of the bombs detonated, causing partial damage to the pylons, while a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team defused another 5-kilogram device attached to two other towers, securing it in police custody.
A case has been registered against unknown individuals, and further investigations are underway.
Authorities confirmed that preventive measures are being tightened to safeguard critical power infrastructure in the area.
Militants in Balochistan and adjoining areas have frequently targeted development projects, energy infrastructure, and communication installations as part of their insurgent activities.
High-voltage transmission lines, railway tracks, gas pipelines, and power stations have been among the primary targets, as such attacks not only cause economic damage but also disrupt essential services to millions of people.
By striking electricity supply lines and other infrastructure, militant groups aim to create instability, weaken government authority, and project their presence in the region.
Over the past two decades, security forces have intensified counter-insurgency measures, yet sporadic acts of sabotage continue to challenge stability.
Safeguarding energy corridors like Uch Power Plant–Guddu transmission line remains a critical task, as these installations are vital to Pakistan’s national power supply and economic development.
It is worth mentioning that the Indian- sponsored militants like BLA, BLF, BRA and others not only target the armed forces and the civilians but they also target the development infrastructure working on the deliberate conspiracy of pushing Balochistan to depravity, chaos and unrest.
