Balochistan to enforce online-only vehicle tax payments

Quetta: The Balochistan Excise and Taxation Department has formally announced that from October 1, 2025, all vehicle taxes must be paid exclusively through an online system, ending the long practice of submitting manual challans at excise offices.

In Balochistan news updates, Under the new arrangement, vehicle owners will generate a Payment Slip ID (PSID) on the department’s official website and use it to deposit the required amount through designated banks or digital payment channels.

Manual receipts or hand-written challans will no longer be accepted.

Officials have further instructed all motorists to clear outstanding dues by June 30, 2025, well ahead of the transition date.

According to the department, this shift is intended to enhance transparency, reduce revenue leakages, and provide easier public access to services.

By removing physical paperwork and middlemen, authorities expect to cut down on queues, reduce the possibility of corruption, and ensure real-time tracking of tax revenue.

The new system represents the latest step in a decade-long modernization drive. Over the past ten years, the Excise and Taxation Department of Balochistan has steadily upgraded its operations.

In the mid-2010s, most vehicle registrations and token tax payments were handled manually, which often led to delays and counterfeit documents.

By 2018, the department began introducing computerized number plates and digital record-keeping, a move that reduced forgery and streamlined verification.

In 2019, smart card vehicle registration replaced the traditional paper registration book, giving owners a secure and portable proof of ownership.

It is worth mentioning that the digital record keeping of vehicles in Balochistan is more significant keeping in view the law-and-order and the security situation in the province.

This move aims to counter the untoward incident and enforcing law even in the remote areas of Balochistan.

Between 2020 and 2022, pilot e-payment facilities and SMS-based vehicle verification services were introduced in major districts, though adoption was gradual due to limited internet access in remote areas.
