Balochistan’s Zanira Chosen for UNICEF Youth program

UNICEF Pakistan has announced that Zanira Qayyum, a 15-year-old youth advocate from Balochistan, will participate in the UNICEF Youth Advocates Mobilization Lab 2025, taking place during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

She is among only twelve young people selected from around the world for this honor.

The lab will help participants strengthen their advocacy skills, share their personal stories, and present ideas for building a better future.

Zanira hails from the Zehri area of Khuzdar district, and her selection reflects the growing influence and powerful voice of young leaders from Balochistan.

Zanira Qayyum’s selection for the UNICEF Youth Advocates Mobilization Lab 2025 is significant on multiple levels.

First, it highlights the emergence of young voices from remote regions of Pakistan—especially Balochistan—on a global platform.

Balochistan News Updates:

The Mobilization Lab, organized alongside the UN General Assembly, is designed to equip a small group of exceptional youth from across the world with advanced advocacy, storytelling, and leadership skills.

Participants receive mentorship from international experts, engage in policy discussions, and collaborate on initiatives that address pressing global challenges such as education, climate change, and child rights.

For Balochistan, a province that often struggles with limited educational resources and international exposure, Zanira’s inclusion serves as a beacon of progress and inspiration.

Her presence in New York will not only amplify the concerns and aspirations of Pakistani youth but also bring international attention to the talents and potential of young people from less represented regions.

It underscores how local activism—whether in education, community health, or gender equality—can resonate globally when supported by organizations like UNICEF.

Her achievement is expected to motivate other young Pakistanis, especially girls, to engage in civic action and pursue opportunities for global advocacy.
