CM Bugti appoints special rep to solve Gwadar’s water and power crisis

A high-level meeting was held in Gwadar, chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, to address the city's critical water and power problems. The meeting reviewed several key proposals aimed at ensuring a regular and reliable water supply for the residents of Gwadar. The meeting reviewed several key proposals aimed at ensuring a regular and reliable water supply for the residents of Gwadar. The Chief Minister issued several directives to accelerate progress on vital projects.

He ordered officials to immediately complete the feasibility report for a major pipeline project that would bring water from the Mirani Dam to Gwadar. This project is planned for implementation with cooperation from both federal and provincial governments.

Furthermore, CM Bugti instructed the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) to speed up the process of providing new domestic water connections through an existing pipeline. He also directed that regular water supply from the Shadi Kaur source must begin and that the local water desalination plant be made more functional.

To ensure focused coordination, the Chief Minister appointed Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, as his special representative to resolve all water and power issues.

The meeting was attended by local MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, the Chief Secretary, and other senior government officers.
