ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Doha on Thursday with a high-level delegation to express Pakistan’s support for Qatar after Israel carried out airstrikes on residential areas in the Qatari capital.
The Foreign Office said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar accompanied the prime minister.
Officials described the visit as a gesture of solidarity and said it reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Qatar’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
During his stay in Doha, Shehbaz Sharif will meet Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and convey Pakistan’s sympathies and support for the Qatari leadership and people.
The Israeli strike on Doha, which targeted Hamas officials, killed at least seven people and triggered outrage across the Arab world.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani condemned the attack as reckless and warned that it endangered the security of the entire Gulf region.
