Pakistan, China Forge New Space Alliance with Astronaut Training and Moon Missions

Pakistan and China have announced a major expansion of their space cooperation, signing a new five-year action plan for 2025–2029.

A key part of this agreement is the establishment of a joint training centre for space science. This centre will focus on advanced astronaut training and selection, which could lead to a Pakistani astronaut participating in a future Chinese human spaceflight mission.

The partnership will also see both countries working together on lunar and deep-space exploration. They will jointly assess projects like the International Lunar Research Station and collaborate on advanced space technologies.

A significant project is the planned Pakistan Space Centre, which is intended to become a central hub for research, innovation, and using space technology to boost economic and social development.

Furthermore, Pakistan will get expanded access to China’s Earth Observation System. This will greatly improve Pakistan’s capabilities in satellite data applications for agriculture, disaster management, water resource management, and climate monitoring.

Officials stated that this collaboration is a crucial strategic element of the Pakistan-China partnership, vital for Pakistan’s technological modernization.
