QUETTA: In a strong and direct address, Balochistan Chief Minister CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti has declared a full-scale war against poppy cultivation in the province.

Speaking in the Balochistan Assembly, CM Bugti stated that his government, with the complete support of federal authorities, will not allow a single inch of land to be used for growing the illegal crop. He issued a stern warning to everyone involved, from local landowners to Afghan nationals providing land for cultivation.

“The government will not compromise on this. Anyone found involved will face strict action,” the Chief Minister said. He revealed that a major operation is already underway, with poppy crops destroyed on 36,000 hectares of land to preserve Pakistan’s “poppy-free” status.

Bugti announced that a new, strict law will be passed by the provincial assembly to ensure the complete eradication of poppy. He also used his speech to send a clear message through social media, warning people across Pakistan against getting involved in the trade.

“We are coming after you, and you will be taken to task,” he said.

The Chief Minister ended by stating that no propaganda or conspiracies would weaken the government’s resolve to eliminate the narcotics trade from Balochistan.
