The ‘missing persons’ issue will be resolved: CM Bugti

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that the Anti-Terrorism Act will not be applied to ordinary citizens, explaining that special measures are required to deal with incidents of terrorism.

Speaking to the media, the chief minister referred to the brutal killing of laborers in the area of Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, drawing a comparison with France, where counterterrorism laws were changed within a day following a major terror attack.

Bugti recalled the 2016 lawyers’ massacre, noting that the mastermind, Saeed Badini, was arrested but not tried in time.

“Ask the families carrying coffins about their pain—no one is willing to testify against terrorists,” he remarked.

He further stated that his government is committed to resolving the issue of missing persons.

“Whenever someone is arrested, their family will be immediately informed.

We will bring a permanent end to this issue,” Bugti assured.

The chief minister added that all citizens are victims of terrorism and emphasized the need for national leadership.

“Can we afford not to take the lead in the fight against terrorism? Without the leadership of Parliament, we cannot win this war. Our manifesto is to stop terrorism,” he said, vowing that Balochistan will never bow down before terrorists.
