ISLAMABAD: The Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Naval Forces, Major General Humaid Abdulla Alremeithi, was conferred with the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) by President Asif Ali Zardari.
The President’s Secretariat, the award was presented in recognition of Maj Gen Alremeithi’s “outstanding services and valuable contributions”. President Zardari underlined that the commander’s visit was a reflection of the enduring brotherly ties between Pakistan and the UAE, which continue to strengthen through cooperation in diverse fields.
Furthermore, the president also appreciated the UAE Navy’s confidence in the professional expertise of the Pakistan Navy, assuring continued support for meeting manpower and training requirements of the Emirati naval forces. He focused on the that Pakistan and the UAE share exemplary relations, rooted in history and reinforced by deep people-to-people bonds.
Maj Gen Alremeithi, during his interaction with the president, recalled his personal association with Pakistan, noting that he had spent four years in Karachi while graduating from the Pakistan Naval Academy.
Moreover, the UAE naval commander met Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The ISPR said the two sides held detailed discussions on professional matters, with a particular focus on the evolving global and regional geo-strategic environment
Maj Gen Alremeithi commended the professional standards of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He lauded Pakistan’s sustained efforts for regional peace and security.
Pakistan and the UAE enjoy close and multi-faceted relations spanning diplomatic, economic, cultural, and defence sectors.

The UAE is one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners in the Middle East and hosts a significant Pakistani expatriate community that contributes substantially through remittances.
