KHUZDAR: A unique variety of onions from a remote area of Balochistan is gaining international fame and boosting the local economy.
The onions, grown in the Zehri tehsil of Khuzdar district, are known for their distinctive color and high quality. While they have long been a popular product in Karachi’s main vegetable market, they have now reached the international stage.
Their big break came at a trade expo held in Karachi, where they caught the attention of international buyers. This exposure has led to successful exports to Saudi Arabia, where the onions have become popular and are in high demand.
This new export market is great news for local farmers. It has opened up fresh economic opportunities for them and has put Balochistan’s agricultural potential on the global map.
