QUETTA: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of heavy rainfall in several districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, and Dera Bugti, as the ongoing monsoon spell continues to affect different parts of the province.
The PDMA has cautioned local administrations to remain on high alert and take precautionary measures to deal with any potential emergencies, particularly flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding in vulnerable areas. The authority has also urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy showers and to stay away from seasonal streams and low-lying areas.
The meteorological office has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in central and southern parts of the province over the next two days. The PDMA further mentioned that previous spells of monsoon rains have already damaged infrastructure in parts of Balochistan, making preventive measures critical.
In this regard, local authorities have appealed to residents to cooperate with administration officials and follow safety advisories to minimize risks. They also focused on the need for community-level preparedness, particularly in remote areas where accessibility becomes difficult during heavy downpours.
